No... seriously! Watching too much of this sort of thing makes me want to go back to lying around with a pile of books beside me ...

There are as many reasons for running as there are days in the year, years in my life. But mostly I run because I am an animal and a child, an artist and a saint. So, too, are you. Find your own play, your own self-renewing compulsion, and you will become the person you are meant to be. - George Sheehan

Hi Pip, I think you are brave contemplating the swim in a harbour or ocean, I did the triathlon in Christchurch a couple of years ago and we did the swim in the pool, much easier. There is something soothing about counting down the laps. apparently the year before, they swam in the sea, but they decided the beach at Sumner was too dangerous for inexperienced swimmers.
I'm going to do the triathlon again, one of these days, when I get fit again. It's just not so enticing the second time - beating my time isn't so exciting a goal as just completing it (I'm 55 by the way)
Hi Catherine
You should do a Google search for the More FM triathlon - it's only a 300m swim, 10km cycle and 3.5km run/walk, so totally achievable, no matter what point you're starting from. The swim part will be my real challenge - I'm still learning and have yet to complete a lap of true freestyle, let alone 300m! Last year the swim was cancelled at Porirua because of rough conditions. Hopefully this year will be a little better!
